Sarah Colvin - OCEAN 104.7  News  Director

Sarah Colvin

The radio bug first bit Sarah Colvin in the late 90s while she was a student at Cape Cod Community College. She became the station’s news director and eventually took over the helm as program director. Sarah first joined Cape Cod Broadcasting in 2005 as a weekend part-timer, soon moving to a full-time position writing and reporting news for both WQRC and WOCN. After a short stint in Boston, the beauty of the Cape and the opportunity to become News Director of a station she grew up listening to lured her back.

The radio bug first bit me in the late 90s while I was a student at Cape Cod Community College. I became the station’s news director almost right away, and eventually took over the helm as program director. I first joined Cape Cod Broadcasting in 2005 as a weekend part timer. I grew up listening to WQRC, and felt honored to join a group of voices and personalities I admired. After a few months of weekends, I was pleased to take a full time position writing, reporting and reading the news. I loved writing stories about the place I love. Cape Cod is such a unique place in that it has a deep-rooted sense of community and a dedication to its lifestyle, economy and ecology, which makes reporting the news a pleasure. I moved to Boston in the fall of 2007 to seek a different lifestyle, but the beauty of the Cape and the opportunity to become News Director of a station I love lured me back. I’m looking forward to rejoining the ranks and getting back into the community that I know and love.

Dave

"It's a 3-B guarantee or double your sunshine back!" Dave Read resides in Sandwich and is this region's only full time local weather forecaster. He enjoys the creativity radio requires and describes it as another acting venue, where you have to think on your feet or some other way, to keep it fresh. He's proud to have received the AP "Radio Weathercast of the Year award" for three years running; and after winning it 3 times in a row, the award was retired by AP. When not at work, Dave can be found running around the Cape with his wife and digital camera taking pictures of the beauty and history that surrounds us.

Heather Curtis - OCEAN 104.7  News Team Member

Heather's career in radio news began her freshman year in college at Ithaca College's award-winning 5,500 watt radio station 92 WICB and the school's internet station 106 VIC. She was active in both stations throughout school and went on to serve as News Director of both. Between semesters, Heather spent summers gaining valuable news experience as an intern at ABC News Radio and Good Morning America in New York City. After college, the radio journey took Heather to the most enchanting island of Martha's Vineyard where she served as News Director at WMVY and contributed to various publications including the Martha's Vineyard Times, the Vineyard Gazette, the Martha's Vineyard Magazine and the Vineyard Visitor. Then in November of 2008, the news journey continued onto the Cape when Heather joined the Cape Cod Broadcasting team. Outside of the station, Heather can be found singing, beading, hiking and playing the viola.

Jay Jay's been interested in broadcasting since he was a kid summering on the Cape. His first experience in radio was working at a college station hosting a weekly music show. Shortly thereafter, he moved on to community radio at a local highschool and then served as producer for two oldies shows, as well as a board operator. Jay now writes and delivers local news and weather reports on the weekends and enjoys keeping people up-to-date with what's happening on the Cape. He's been a full-time resident for about 20 years and currently lives in Buzzards Bay with his wife and three teenage kids
