LONDON (AP) — The Isle of Wight Festival will pay tribute to the 45th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix appearing there by asking everyone to look like him. On Saturday at 3:30 PM local time, organizers will ask everyone at the festival to wear a Hendrix mask. They’re hoping to set a world record for the most people in the same place wearing the same mask. The masks will be sold for a donation to the WellChild charity. Hendrix’s last UK performance was at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970.

NEW YORK (AP) — Little Anthony of Little Anthony and the Imperials says he should have died three times. Instead, he’s lived long enough to tell his life story. “Little Anthony: My Journey – My Destiny” describes his rise to fame, even though Anthony says he and the Imperials made all the wrong moves, hired the wrong managers, listened to nobody and got caught up in their fame. Anthony says he smoked pot with Marvin Gaye in the basement of the Apollo Theater and Bruce Springsteen used to open for him in the 1970s. Anthony’s book is in stores now.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Misbehaving music fans at Bonnaroo won’t be able to just pay a fine and make it go away this year. Coffee County District Attorney Craig Northcott tells the Nashville Tennessean festival goers will not be able to pay a fine to avoid appearing in court on minor citations. He says it isn’t fair that a person arrested the day before Bonnaroo on minor drug possession could get five days in jail and a year of probation, while someone arrested on the same charge at Bonnaroo simply pays $1,500. Northcott says he will stagger court dates to alleviate any extra load on the jail. Bonnaroo starts tomorrow in Manchester, Tennessee.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Gibson Guitars is donating $100,000 to Belmont University in Nashville to honor Les Paul. The Les Paul Music Innovation Award will be used to fund research to innovate music. The 100th anniversary of Paul’s birth was yesterday. Besides being a musician, Paul created the electric solid body guitar, multitrack recording and many other music innovations.

WILLIAMS, Ore. (AP) — Steve Miller’s former house in Williams, Oregon, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. It’s not because Miller used to live there. It’s because it’s an outstanding example of post-World War II modern-style architecture. Winifred Scott Wellington designed the Lippincott House, which was built in 1951. Miller owned the house from 1976 to 1986. A nonprofit foundation owns it now and operates it as a botanical garden and community center.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Watching the story of his life on the big screen was sometimes upsetting to Brian Wilson. He says the first time he saw the film “Love and Mercy” it was “a real test for my emotions.” Wilson says the movie portrays him so well he felt like he was being pushed into the movie. Paul Dano plays Wilson in the 1960s, and John Cusack portrays Wilson in the 1980s. Wilson says he saw the parts with Dano in the studio but he does not remember the events that inspired them. He says he makes him think, “How could I have done that?” ”Love and Mercy” is in theaters now.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Elvis Presley will be commemorated on a postage stamp once again. It will be a Forever stamp that is part of the Music Icon series that also includes stamps of Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. The U.S. Postal Service will hold a first-day-of-issue celebration on August 12 in Memphis during Elvis Week. Presley was featured on a stamp in 1993.

UNDATED (AP) — Sam Smith can speak again. Smith writes on Instagram his restriction to not use his voice following vocal cord surgery has been lifted. Smith thanks his doctor and says, “You truly truly don’t know what you’ve got until you lose it.” He says he’s fallen in love with music all over again and he feels blessed to be able to sing again.

NEW YORK (AP) — Sara Bareilles (bah-REL’-ihs) is putting out a collection of essays this fall. Bareilles will publish “Sounds Like Me: My Life (So Far) In Song,” through Simon and Schuster on October 6. Bareilles covers such topics as performing with Carole King at the Grammys, the first time she heard Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” album, and the stories behind her songs. Ben Folds wrote the introduction for the book.
